Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Civil Services Exam:

Nationality:

  • For Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, candidates must be Indian resident.
  • For other civil services, appliers must be India citizen, or subject of Nepal / Bhutan/ A Tibetan refugee / A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from other countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Provided that appliers belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been announced by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification:

Applying candidates must have degree in any discipline from concern Universities recognized by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.

All appliers who have appeared exam but have not been informed of the results are able to apply and those candidates who are having professional and technical qualifications that are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree are also eligible to apply.

Number of Attempts:

All appliers can only go for 06 attempts only, provided that, this restriction will not able for SC and ST aspirants who are otherwise eligible.

Age Limit:

Age of the candidates must have minimum 21 years & maximum 32 years & Appliers should have been born not earlier than 02-08-1984 and not later than 01-08-1995.

Upper age limit is relaxed for reserved candidates like as Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe for 5 year, for Other Backward Classes up to 3 years and 5 years for domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989 up to 5 years.

How to Apply Online for Civil Services Exam:

Civil services online registration procedure will be done into 02 parts as Part- I Registration and Part- II Registration. Both parts are published below:-

Part- I Registration:

  • Applicants visit the official website of organization that is - www.upsconline.nic.in
  • Select the “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC” link.
  • Press on the exam name as “Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination”.
  • Press on the “Part- I Registration” link.
  • Read the complete details very carefully.
  • Press on the “yes” tab available at bottom of page.
  • Press on the continue tab and enter your basic details like as candidates name, gender, date of birth, fathers and mother name and contact details etc..
  • Press on the submit tab and on successful completion of your complete application, an auto-generated email will be sent on your registered email-id.

Part-II Registration:

  • Scan photograph, which must be in JPG format of size 40 kb and greater than 3 kb and resolution 140 pixel height by 110 pixel width and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit and signature in JPG format, having digital size of each file must be less that 40 kb and greater than 1 kb and resolution 110 pixel height by 140 pixel width and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit, before applying.
  • Now, candidates should receive copy of challan form.
  • Press on the “Part- II Registration” link.
  • Deposit fee.
  • Select center from 23 centers according to your convenience.
  • Upload photograph and signature.
  • Go on the Submit Tab & fobmit it
  • Take Print out For Future use.

Educational Qualification:- Appliers of UPSC examination must have graduate degree from any recognized university in relevant discipline.
